Skidaway Island Boating Club
The Skidaway Island Boating Club is the perfect way to take advantage of the abundant and beautiful resources on our island. The club is for enthusiasts and novices alike. The only requirement is a love to cruise, sail, paddle, fish, or just hang out on the docks!
About Us
The Skidaway Island Boating Club began in 2015, when a few people came together to create a community group that “promotes boating and the use of the waterfront of Skidaway Island” or better stated–a group that loves to meet and do anything they can think of in sight of, near to, or on the water! Since inception, SIBC is approaching 100 family memberships! The Skidaway Island Boating Club offers a range of activities from Boating courses on subjects like boat safety and Marine GPS, to hosting Social Events and of course, races.
SIBC Events
SIBC also offers a range of events throughout the year ranging from monthly socials and dock parties to annual events like Octoberfest and our July 4th Celebration.
The SIBC’s signature event is the Annual Low Country Hook Race, which offers contestants the unique experience to compete in open-ocean. The race begins at Hilton Head Harbour Town and Yacht basin and continues all the way south around Skidaway Island, which forms the “J” hook that gives the race its name. After the race, the SIBC hosts a post-race dinner where sponsors, sailors, and crew come together for camaraderie, food, and merriment.
No Boat? No Problem!
There’s no need to have a boat to join in on the fun—Sailboats are available for recreation and racing with a Rhodes 19 membership. SIBC also provides training to take you from first mate to skipper in no time!
How To Get Involved
Family membership in the SIBC is an annual fee of $75 and includes a subscription to the monthly newsletter, Skidaway Soundings. Please visit www.skidawayislandboatingclub.org for more information or send an email to SIBoatingClub@gmail.com
