The Magnolia course offers a water obstacle that lies in front of a long narrow sand trap with the green's pin nestled in the background.

Magnolia

The Landings Golf & Athletic Club christened its second course, Magnolia, in 1977. The course was originally designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay, marking one of Palmer’s early ventures in course design.

Those who have played Magnolia say its front nine challenges even the best golfer, particularly those who play from the Championship or Tournament tees. The back nine offers some respite. Magnolia is described as a “second-shot” golf course, meaning that a golfer’s placement on the second shot is key. With its undulated greens, Magnolia will test the skills of every golfer but ultimately remains a fun course to play. Having seven tee boxes to play from, golfers have the flexibility to make each round unique. Keep an eye out for Arnold Palmer’s signature beach bunker on #16.

A major renovation project was completed in 2001 to improve playability, drainage, and update the irrigation system. It included 18 greens and 63 bunkers, and increased total green sizes by approximately 20%. Another renovation in 2011 by Brandon Johnson of Arnold Palmer Design Company redesigned all 18 putting greens and both greenside and fairway bunkers.
