Together For A Cure

Categories:

The Landings is a unique community filled with caring people who love to support those who need our help. That’s why we’re so happy to announce the Together For A Cure (TFAC) annual golf tournament April 12th-20th. This is a wonderful opportunity for our entire community to help fund cancer research.

This tournament is sponsored by the Landings Women’s Golf Association (LWGA), and also includes the Landings Men’s Golf Association (LMGA) and the Landings Nine Hole Golf Association (L9GA). Plus, TFAC has expanded islandwide for the first time to include competitions in tennis, pickleball, bocce and croquet. There’s even a Wellness Center Challenge. So everyone can join in the fun!

Landings Club golf and athletic members are welcome to participate in the golf tournament and court sport events. Residents who are not Club members may contribute by becoming a sponsor, purchasing raffle tickets or raffle baskets, or pledging to support someone participating in the Wellness Center Challenge.

Our furry friends are getting involved in the fun too! Friends of the Dog Park may support TFAC by simply giving a donation. The donor and pup’s name will appear in the TFAC booklet.

LWGA has raised over one million dollars over the last 16 years, and all donations benefit the Mercer University School of Medicine right here in Savannah. Dr. Robert Visalli, Professor of Microbiology and Director of the LWGA Cancer Research Scholars Program, has shared that past donations have supported several important initiatives:

• 10 Summer Scholars Research Assistantships

• The creation of the LWGA Microscopy Suite within the Center Research Lab that included the capital purchase of Confocal and Immunofluorescent Microscopy equipment

• The purchase of a Luminex 200 Cell Analyzer to enhance research capabilities and attract high-level cancer researchers to MUSM-Savannah

• LWGA was also credited for partially funding two research papers

When you move to The Landings, you too can be part of meaningful events like this. Schedule a Discovery Visit today.
