The greens are rolling at a 12+ on the stimpeter, the bunkers raked, and the pins strategically placed. The surrounding 300-plus well-appointed homes lining the acclaimed Deer Creek Course at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club are gleaming in all their southern charm.  

All these signs of spring can only point to one thing: It’s time for the seventh annual Club Car Championship, a Korn Ferry Tour Event, to tee off at The Landings. Part of the Korn Ferry Tour Schedule and drawing thousands of spectators, in addition to being televised this year on the Golf Channel, the tournament is the perfect opportunity to showcase golf course living at its finest.  

What’s so great about living on the golf course that hosts the Club Car Championship?  

Privacy and prime views — Imagine waking up to lush, manicured greens right outside your window. Golf courses are renowned for their scenic beauty, and the Deer Creek Course is no exception. As you sip your morning coffee, the rolling fairways and vibrant foliage create a serene backdrop. In addition, during the Club Car Championship, the third annual First Tee Career Day, presented by Memorial Health Dwaine & Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital of Savannah, will welcome members of First Tee – Savannah for a look behind the scenes at a professional golf tournament. Members get the chance to explore the many career opportunities available in the golf and club management industries. Participants will experience a clubhouse tour and pastry-making session, a tournament gardening demonstration with hands-on floral installation and more. Attendance for the First Tee Career Day is available by invitation only.  

Amenities — Golf courses sometimes offer special course membership rates to homeowners in the community. Private residential communities, such as The Landings, also often have other amenities such as tennis, pickleball, swimming pools and clubhouses. This often means community events and get-togethers throughout the year. These social events can help you get to know your neighbors – an added benefit if you’re new to the area. One of the highlighted special events each year includes the annual Club Car Championship. Each Landings Golf & Athletic Club member receives two free tickets per day, Thursday through Sunday. They can purchase additional tickets for $10. Tickets for Saturday, however, are $20 and include a Yacht Rock Revue concert, back for a second year. 

What sets Deer Creek Course apart from the rest?  

Set against a stunning backdrop of stately hardwood forests, unspoiled saltwater marshes and pristine tidal creeks, all six golf courses at The Landings are designated as “Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries” by Audubon International, offering challenging play for golfers of all skill levels.  

Deer Creek, host course for the Club Car Championship and the next wave of PGA TOUR stars, was originally built by Tom Fazio in 1991, with the famed architect returning in 2009 to modernize the course via an expansive restoration.    

Relatively wide fairways along this course offer solace to golfers who need extra room, but the par threes are the toughest on the island. This course will test golfers of every skill level, making it perfect for the CCC. The 18^th green is directly behind the Deer Creek Clubhouse offering diners and spectators alike a wonderful view of championship play.

Club Car Championship, a Korn Ferry Tour Event 

The Club Car Championship runs April 1 to 7. The tournament is a four-day, 72-hole, stroke-play competition with a total purse of $1 million. The Korn Ferry Tour is the primary path to the PGA TOUR, awarding 30 PGA TOUR cards per season. This tournament is one of only three regular-season events on the Korn Ferry Tour to be broadcast on network television.   

David Skinns won the championship in 2023, holding off Shad Tuten and U.S. Air Force veteran Tom Whitney for his third Korn Ferry Tour title.  

The Landings Golf & Athletic Club will offer complimentary admission to all United States Armed Forces (Active Duty, National Guard, Reserve, and Retirees), Veterans, and First Responders with a valid ID.
