Forbes Names Savannah as One of the Best Places to Retire

The kudos for Savannah just keep coming. Every year Forbes releases its top 25 places to retire in the U.S. and we’re pleased, but not at all surprised, that Savannah made the list for 2019! With its southern charm, coastal lifestyle, lower taxes and mild climate, we agree it’s the perfect place for retirees and soon-to-be retirees to call home.

In order to identify their top 25, Forbes did a thorough study of nearly 700 places in all 50 states and D.C. Only those that offered a high quality of life and more bang for the buck made it to the final list. They considered factors such as home prices, cost of living, state tax issues, weather, crime rate, health care, and even air quality — all of which are important to retirees who are looking to stay active, connect with others and enjoy a happy and healthy lifestyle.

Among the most notable findings from Forbes research, Savannah’s cost of living is 12% below national average and up to $65,000 per person of retirement income is exempt from state income tax. It also has a good ranking on Milken Institute’s list of best cities for successful aging.

With so much to do and see in Savannah, we think it’s a no-brainer that Baby Boomers should choose to live here for a long and active retirement. And when you live at The Landings, you enjoy world-class amenities spread throughout The Landings’ neighborhoods, including four clubhouses and restaurants, a fitness and wellness center, two indoor pools, three outdoor pools, six championship golf courses, 31 tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, 30 miles of walking trails, and two deep-water marinas — all with easy access to all of the beauty and recreation of downtown historic Savannah.
