We are ecstatic to announce that professional golf has found a home at The Landings on Skidaway Island! The Landings Club will play host to the Tour’s inaugural Savannah Golf Championship, set to tee off March 26th, 2018. Over 150 up-and-coming PGA stars will take to the Club’s Deer Creek course to compete for $550,000.

In a press conference at The Landings Club, Tour President Dan Glod expressed his excitement to bring the Tour to Savannah.

“We are excited to bring the Tour to Savannah because we believe in this market,” said Glod. “This is a vibrant city that has a strong passion and history with the game of golf, and we look forward to working with the community and local businesses to grow this tournament on and off the course.”

The Tour

The Tour is the developmental tour for the PGA Tour. Professional golfers who have not qualified to compete in the PGA Tour, or who have failed to stay at that level compete for a limited number of PGA Tour memberships at season’s end.

During this time, the top 25 golfers on the money list are awarded PGA Tour memberships for the next season. Since 2013, the Tour has been the primary pathway for those seeking to earn their PGA Tour card.

Professional Golf at The Landings

The Savannah Golf Championship will mark the first time one of The Landings Clubs’ six championship courses—all of which are designated Audubon Cooperative Sanctuaries—have been the site of a PGA Tour Championship, but with the tournament set to stay on Skidaway Island for the next five years, it won’t be the last.

The Deer Creek Course at The Landings Club was designed by renowned architect Tom Fazio and will challenge players to make shots in and out of dense forests with several holes adjacent to the scenic marsh wetlands.

“This tournament will test the skills of the rising stars in the professional ranks and expose many others to the remarkable golf experience at The Landings Club on one of our six Championship golf courses,” says The Landings Club Executive Director Steven Freund.

The Landings Club and the city of Savannah are honored to be the newest stop on the Tour. We look forward to showing the players and fans true southern hospitality and providing one of the most challenging and exciting stops on the tour for years to come.
