Retirement: Ranked

Due to the pandemic, about 2.7 million Americans over the age of 55 are considering retirement years earlier than they imagined, government data shows. So, while working adults rush to decide when to retire, they first must determine where.

Rating the States

In the latest Bankrate rating, Bloomberg Wealth named the top states to retire in, with Georgia coming out on top.

Bankrate analyzed affordability, weather, culture, wellness and crime to determine their list. And with an ideal climate, affordable cost of living, and a plethora of retirement communities in Georgia, our state proved to be the premier place for luxury senior living.

The cost of living for retirees in Georgia rated nearly 7% below the national average.

Housing is affordable across the state. Plus Georgia doesn’t tax social security retirement benefits and allows a generous deduction ––$65,000 per person –– on retirement income for anyone 65 and older.

Choosing a City

Retirees often search for tranquil environments, great amenities and accessible locations. And the search for a private retirement community that checks off everything on the list often ends with The Landings. Coastal living, premier golf, and luxury amenities just minutes from downtown Savannah make The Landings one of the best places to retire in Georgia.

Plus, the history, culture, and entertainment of Savannah simply can’t be beat.
