How long have you lived at The Landings?
We have been full-time residents since 2011. I still catch my breath when I see the marsh from the bridge to Skidaway Island, and I always think about how fortunate we are to be here.
What attracted you to The Landings?
Four years before Jerry’s retirement, we began our search for our next home. We discovered The Landings through an internet search, and we were immediately drawn to its natural beauty and amenities. Six golf courses, four clubhouses, two deepwater marinas, tennis complex and fitness center–all within a short drive to downtown Savannah, one of the top destination cities in America. We loved the historic charm of Savannah, as well as the excellent hospitals and easy accessibility to the airport. We were also looking for a diverse community mix. We found The Landings was not just another retirement development; its residents ranged from young professionals to retirees.
What made you choose The Landings?
We chose The Landings based on the wonderful amenities, the beauty of the island and close proximity to Savannah. Even with all of these benefits, the primary reason we love living here is the community. Shortly after moving to The Landings, we joined New Neighbors, a truly unique organization, that provided an entry to establishing friendships with other new residents sharing our interests and passions.
What is the most important aspect of life at The Landings?
After moving here from Fort Wayne, Indiana, we discovered the most important aspect of living at The Landings. The sense of community is the intangible asset that new residents soon experience. This community truly reaches out to new neighbors transitioning into their new homes and neighborhoods. We can’t imagine living anywhere else!
What would you say to someone considering moving to The Landings?
It is hard to put into words what a beautiful and unique place this is, so I would say you really must come for a visit to experience it first hand. We’re happier than we ever imagined we could be and we feel so fortunate to live in such an amazing place!
