A sand trap lies to the left and a marsh to the right of his green at sunset on the Palmetto golf course.

Palmetto

The Landings Golf & Athletic Club opened its fourth course, Palmetto, in 1985. Designed by Arthur Hills, the course is considered by many members to be our most challenging. Palmetto’s first six holes are built to challenge the golfer from tee-off. The next nine offer some reprieve, but the final three are a return to
earlier form.

Along the way, golfers are treated to both incredible sights and island history. The 10th hole is home to one of the most beautiful oak trees on the island. Take a pause on the 13th hole to pay respects to Philip Delegal. Mr. Delegal was an early settler of Skidaway Island and his grave rests here as part of eight archeological sites discovered by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

In 2005, the course was spruced up with new concrete cart paths, irrigation system and drainage, bunkers, a bulkhead around the 5th green, and an additional set of tees.

The high afternoon sun illuminates a lagoon wrapping around one of the challenging holes of the Palmetto golf course.
